of 'dmesg' and your /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state file.

As for blacklisting, I never tried it myself untill now and it really doesn't
seem to work with video drivers. although a friend seems to have managed with a
different OS.

Check the behavior of e.g., nautilus or dconf for comparison. I believe
they fall back to something under the user's homedir - that's not

If every program and service loaded into ram continued working until
they required hd acces [sic] then it is not related to this bug, which
is a hard freeze in which no program continues to function in relation

All I can say is try Unity 2D not 3D.
