I had several installations on the same computer now (for other reasons) and ALWAYS the correct resolution was found (without changing anything with the cables). To my view it cannot be the cable. Why is the resolution then never changed back to UHD even after restart/power on/off ? Additional

I have experienced the same resolution fallback weirdness with multiple devices over the years. In all cases the problem was either a poor quality HDMI cable or a poor quality connection at one end of the cable. Please try unplugging both ends of the cable/adapter and check them for dirt or bent
