I just wanted to state that this issue seems to have resolved itself.
I've grabbed the updated packages from apt and these are what I believe
the relevant updates were. Is there any more information that might be
more useful?

I'd like to report that this issue is also being reproduced with nouveau
on NVIDIA GF108. However, my dmesg does not seem to contain nouveau
errors.

Also, if anyone can reproduce the problem again, do you find nouveau
errors in your kernel log around the time of the missing rendering?
Run 'dmesg' to see it all.
