I notice a very similar crash on PIII old computer with 3dfx card. Even with graphics safe mode livecd option, it just automatically logs in, shows the desktop, crashes back to the login screen, logs in, crashes, goes back to login screen and auto-logs in, etc. infinite loop. -- Xorg crashed
