@Daniel Wejse,
You should open your xorg.conf file, not the one that you downloaded.
It's usually in the /etc/X11 folder. Do these steps:
Open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and type the following
commands:
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
sudo gedit /etc/
I don't understand how to do camillas fix. (I'm also a total ubuntu newbie).
What shall I do with the xorg.conf file downloaded from here? How do I attach
it?
Thanks
Daniel

I have this issue on my Acer Extensa 5635G. Looking at the Xorg.0.log,
it seems that the proper mode of 1366x768 at 60Hz is being discarded
with this motivation:
Mode is rejected: This mode's horizontal sync end (1446) exceeds the
horizontal total size (1437).
After some experimentation, the fix
This problem looks to be related to the nvidia drivers.
I think it's because nvidia can't detect the right resolution for the monitor.
And unfortunately forcing a resolution in ubuntu or any linux dist for that
matter is not easy to say the least...
Running latest ubuntu here (9.10).
