The problem with text consoles is still happening as of 15 Apr 2010. For example, ctrl-alt-F2 results in an unintelligible colored screen. The same for F1 through F6. alt-F7 switches back to Gnome. I'll try the live-cd booting problem on the RC release, unless someone suggests trying a daily build

Incidentally, this system boots properly with the correct screen resolution from the live CD for the Cuban Nova Linux 30012009 V1 (BAIRE-1.1.2-30012009-V1) which I downloaded today. This is a Gentoo- based distro. It appears to use an openchrome driver for this Averatec system. I've attached a tar
