Thanks for testing maverick during its development period. Unfortunately it
looks like this bug report didn't get attention during the maverick development
period. But I see there's not been more comments on the bug since the release,
which makes me wonder if this is still

I'm also getting this issue. (1440x900 monitor being incorrectly given
1280x1024 resolution). I filed LP: #638103 as I thought it was a gdm
problem, since I started getting the issue after upgrading gdm a couple
days ago.

Changed monitor setting to the proper 1440x900, set make default.
Reboot recovery mode did a repair broken packages which completed O.K.
Rebooted normal O.K. Successfully installed flashplugin so synaptic working
O.K.
