Well actually I didn't reply because I have kept my working 256 driver
which works correctly and I've never tried with the package version to
avoid wasting an hour with driver installation. Since driver version in
the repository is still 260.19.06, I guess nothing would change...

The problem must be definitely with nvidia driver 260, because I
uninstalled it and manually installed 256. Now the system works
regularly
