sorry for this answer so late. So I just add your PPA in my ubuntu 10.10
and setting my xorg.conf to use your geode driver. Anyway Xorg crash
again :

Does the issue still apply to the 2.11.11-1 that can be found as
backports for various Ubuntu releases in my PPA?

Actually, Geode support is somewhat messy on 10.10 Maverick. However,
Lucid and the upcoming Natty should be OK.
