Well, the fix is to add this kernel parameter: 'i8042.noloop=1' so it is
probably a kernel module issue? See bug #87262, it is reported against
the kernel package.

bug #87262 is pretty ancient, I doubt it's at all relevant.
However, I do agree it's likely this is a kernel bug. I'll refile it
there; Chase can correct it if I'm wrong.
In any case, we still need to see your `sudo lsinput` output.
