First, go back to stock natty (e.g. run ppa-purge on xorg-edgers to
remove it) and reproduce the original problem.
Next, manually install packages one by one from xorg-edgers, re-testing
by reproducing the bug with each package until the issue goes away.

If not, then since we don't have a proper gpu capture in this case, the

Latest update:
After installing the latest X infrastructure from xorg-edgers PPA (as
of April 5, 2011) the problem is gone. Everything seems to be normal
again.

The apport hook crash is bug 749809 which should now be fixed.
The X hang is probably one of our various gpu lockup bugs. Probably
easiest to re-report it when it next recurs. Meanwhile I'll close this
bug report out since we don't have the necessary gpu state captured.
