Public bug reported: according to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=622655 and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=640100 , xfixes version 5 (+ possibly some other stuff? I can't quite tell...) allows "pointer barrier support", which should keep the mouse from entering dead areas of the screen on asymmetric multi-monitor setups.
