I am on Debian Wheezy (kernel 3.10-3), and have the same problem with my
Logitech Unifying
Receiver and a gb keyboard: it remains in us layout after setting the gb layout
in
/etc/default/keyboard. I found several bug reports for this problem, but no
fix.
As a workaround, I add this in
frenkiel, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report by executing the following in a
terminal:

Bruno MACADRE, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from

Logitech Wireless keyboard has bad layout on
Nothing new...
To believe that everyone who cares
It is probably not important to have an AZERTY keyboard for developers
as they are all QWERTY ...

Is there anything new here? Or any hint where I could search to fix this
on my own?

Title:
Logitech Wireless keyboard
My Logitech k400 wireless Keyboard was working perfectly (French AZERTY
keyboard) since I have upgraded ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04.
Now the login screen is always in US configuration (querty) !
I have tried to run dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration it's ok but the
configuration is lost when
I tried to change keyboard layout from français (variante) [french
(alternative)] to français (sans touches mortes) [french (no dead
keys)] and the layout looked ok since then.
I'll try the logon screen in a minute and check wether it got fixed
there as well.
Looks like X does not set properly
Well, it's fixed for me in the logon screen with layout français (sans
touches mortes).
This was related to the default french (alternative) layout. Maybe
it's not entierly related with wireless keyboards.
Note: I'd like to remind everybody that, in my case, the problem arose
after an upgrade
By the way, thanks to v66r for having inspiring me with the solution of
changing kb layout to an alternative one.
In my case, there is no ill behavior left in the logon screen.
In case it helps (but i'm not sure it can be compared to v66r german setting),
my /etc/defauts/keboard reads like this
Same here. Normally using german neo2 layout but system wide keyboard setting
is US. When changing explicitely to neo2 within my X session in settings
keyboard settings, not using the system wide setting, it is fine there (neo 2).
But on the login screen it is always US layout. On textmode
Same bug with an other logitech unify keyboard (k400) and Ubuntu 12.04
(never try with a previous release).

Same problem for me.
Fresh 12.04 install this morning and my logitech k750 became desperately QWERTY
since then...
It is properly detected as xkb_layout=fr in Xorg.0.log, though.
Tried to reinstall all fr language support packages : no luck.
I have to admit that I didn't try to connect
