Kubuntu 12.10. I'm attaching a screenshot of how it manifests for me.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 and I'm using the i915 video driver.

lockup/freeze. Pretty sure that the problem lies in the kernel.
I did not try with 3.5 and 3.6 for a longer while because I have other

I see the Ubuntu logo with the dot booting the system, then I heard the
drum roll sound and the system ends with screen corruption (see the
screenshot). So basically, it get screen corruption just when X start.
Using ALT+F1 I've been able to get a textual terminal and launch apport

Did some more testing : it only happens on the first login after boot.
On subsequent login, gnome-settings don't crash and dual monitor
configuration is ok.
