The same is happening to me. Using Ubuntu 9.10 beta 64bit running on a USB pen drive. My system is an Acer laptop with a AMD Turion64, 1,5 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 128 Mb. Xorg eats up 100% of CPU since booting throughout the session. Im almost sure it didnt happen with the alpha6 release.
