[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799379] Re: Monitor undected and screen resolution options missing
I found this post on the ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10929081postcount=8 and this wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Resolution So I did the following: used the modelines provided from the edid section of my Xorg.0.log to create a set of xrandr commands to append the start-up script: /etc/gdm/Init/Default however on restart the same old resolution started, but on going to MenuPreferencesMonitor the new settings were there so I selected 1280x1024@60Hz and then clicked on the button make default. On restart I had my desired screen resolution. (I have no idea how this action works or why appending the GDM start-up script didn't work.) Incidentally I got a random monitor detection whilst I was doing this for a Rogen Tech Distribution Inc 27 monitor...screenshot attached. I have this on a couple of occassions now. Also a new output for xrandr --verbose attached. ** Attachment added: Screenshot https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/799379/+attachment/2196998/+files/rogentech.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/799379 Title: Monitor undected and screen resolution options missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/799379/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 767315] Re: xinput 2 Coordinate Transformation Matrix not affecting all events
Interestingly, the original question xinput 2 Coordinate Transformation Matrix not affecting all events ... would refer to device id 2, which would be the master (Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]) ... No it wouldn't. I was refering to XInput, protocol version 2, to say that this property is an XInput property, and not a driver (evdev…) property, like 'Evdev Axes Swap'; which is broken in ubuntu, but utouch team told me migrate to the new 'Coordinate Transformation Matrix', which also happen to be broken. So, I was indeed referring to device 9 (see xinput.txt) The problem for me is that I can get my device (touchscreen) rotated with `xinput set-float-prop...` if I get its id right - but I'd like to transform mouse AND touchscreen AND touchpad at the same time with one command, so I'm trying to change Coordinate Transformation Matrix of the master […] I'm afraid this is another problem, I'd even say a it's a feature request. For now you just do a for loop on all devices and apply the appropriate coordinate transformation matrix. For example (untested) : ROTATION=left MATRIX=0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 xrandr -o $ROTATION for dev in $(xinput list |grep slave pointer | sed -e 's/^.*id=//' | awk '{print $1}') do xinput set-float-prop $dev Coordinate Transformation Matrix $MATRIX done Cheers :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/767315 Title: xinput 2 Coordinate Transformation Matrix not affecting all events To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/767315/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Touchpad just starting working yesterday evening. (Should be around 3-4 pm in EST) There is no coherent explanation as to why, except that my girlfriend touched it and all of a sudden it was working again... Maybe it was a matter of reboot after kernel started to recognize it. I think I also did a standard update to Natty Narwhal at some point, so it might be a combination of all of these. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 807620] [NEW] Fixes tablets not working after suspend
Public bug reported: I have an HP 2710p Tablet PC running Xubuntu 11.04, which features a wacom tablet. The stylus always works on first boot, but as soon as I sleep and then resume the system, the stylus stops working. It's still listed in xinput list, but it just wouldn't work. It seems the problem lies in the kernel module, so I'm not sure that this is the right way to do this, but unloading the wacom module before sleep and then adding it back after resume seems to make everything work correctly. Question: why isn't this included in Ubuntu by default? I've had this problem since leaving Xubuntu 10.04 for 10.10, and now 11.04.. I've attached a patch to apply to /var/lib/dpkg/info/xserver-xorg-input- wacom.preinst But if you want to just fix your own system, simply make a script in /etc/pm/sleep.d named 75_wacom, and put this into it: #!/bin/sh # load and unload wacom module for suspend and hibernate case $1 in thaw|resume) modprobe wacom ;; suspend|hibernate) modprobe -r wacom ;; esac Thanks, Ubuntu is cool. p.s. this was based off of moaxey's work at http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1686278.html ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+4ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Fri Jul 8 12:19:44 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) [8086:2a02] (rev 0c) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30c8] Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:30c8] InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal - Release amd64 (20110427) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq 2710p (#ABA) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=UUID=10075b3d-bbec-4b09-93e0-b9a42fcc47c8 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 Renderer: Unknown SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 01/22/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68MOU Ver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 807306] Re: [oneiric] Keyboard mouse not working in X
Hmm, from that list only the new linux-image seems likely. And that's easy enough to prove/disprove - reboot, hold down the left shift to bring up grub, and boot into a prior kernel version. If it works properly then, that points to the kernel. The history.log is interesting, but the dpkg.log might have more. Could you attach /var/log/dpkg.log? Neither of the udev messages look relevant to input problems, although udev could still be a suspect. Thanks for digging those messages out. That second one does need solved though. I think that's just failsafe-x, which doesn't work with lightdm yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807306 Title: [oneiric] Keyboard mouse not working in X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/807306/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 807306] Re: [oneiric] Keyboard mouse not working in X
The older kernels (3.0-1 and 2.6.39 something) also don't work, so not that. One thing I've had ever since I first upgraded that vm to OO is that during boot I get the message: error: runtime directory '/run/udev' not writeable, for now falling back . that's very early on (initrd?) - thought I'd mention it if we're looking at udev stuff. dpkg-log's below. Note I've just tried sudo stop lightdm sudo start gdm and gdm has the same issue. I've also just tried: update-initramfs -k all -u and rebooted, didn't help -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807306 Title: [oneiric] Keyboard mouse not working in X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/807306/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 801566] Re: scrolling stops working after suspend-resume
Please excuse the meta-comment, but this sort of regression is the #1 most frustrating problem with ubuntu (/linux/open-source). Something works in one release, possibly after some effort, and then breaks in the next. Doubly or triply frustrating when the release is a LTS. It's for this reason I actually fear upgrading. Ubuntu is truly fantastic, I choose it over any other environment, but the desktop stability is a major problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801566 Title: scrolling stops working after suspend-resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/801566/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
