Public bug reported:
FC and system reboots
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10
Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-22.27-generic 4.2.6
Uname: Linux 4.2.0-22-generic x86_64
NonfreeKernelModules: talpa_vfshook talpa_pedconnector talpa_pedevice

Same problems for weeks. Opening video files (vlan). Using Firefox. Opening or
closing folders via SMB to an external NAS.
And other activities which i do not remember, sorry.
First i would get the login screen again after 10-120 seconds. Then the crash
report would tell me that it was xorg.
Any updates regarding this bug? I'm still experiencing this on 15.10
(Unity). Can we at least get is assigned?

After a few days of this, added the xorg-edgers PPA, upgraded to the
newer packages, and I haven't had a single X server crash since. I also
installed the 4.4.0-040400rc4-generic kernel available here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc4-wily/ but I'm not
sure if that's required

I don't know of anything I am doing to trigger this problem. My screen
will randomly go black for about 2 seconds and then come back on with
horizontal lines over everything. Sometimes I can see my work in the
background but it's all scrambled. The mouse pointer stays on top

Hey guys,
since no fix for trusty has been released, I've taken matters into my
own hands. My own repository includes the fixed discussed in comment
#251. You use it as follows:
# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:minium/xorg-server
# sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Cheers
