[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543351] Re: Add on-screen-keyboard support for Xmir/Puritine apps
Hmm, I think that just about covers it actually. Providing we're only talking about apps that work with input methods on Unity7 already, we're just missing a Unity8 frontend for those input methods (Brandon knows the APIs but I forget what they're called). It would not matter if the app is running inside Xmir, it should just work and talk to the Unity8 frontend that's providing an OSK (or other input method). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1543351 Title: Add on-screen-keyboard support for Xmir/Puritine apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-pocket-desktop/+bug/1543351/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1543351] Re: Add on-screen-keyboard support for Xmir/Puritine apps
Actually, this isn't just an Xmir issue. It could be needed for any non- Qt app running on Touch. Normally it's just the app's toolkit that sets this up so it would not seem like Xmir needs to get involved. But there might be some level of Xmir involvement in the conversation between the X app and the shell. On the other hand, we could just add one OSK button (to rule them all) that Xmir and other non-integrated toollkits could benefit from. As a third option - Could we make Unity8 just provide an OSK show/hide button/panel in the case that it detects a non-integrated app? It's worth noting still that the backend-frontend design of input methods means that Xmir probably won't be involved in this enhancement. Just the backend that your Gnome-app-in-Xmir uses talks to the frontend that is the Unity8 OSK. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1543351 Title: Add on-screen-keyboard support for Xmir/Puritine apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-pocket-desktop/+bug/1543351/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1540001] Re: visual becomes distorted
Thanks Christopher M Penalver, I have added bug #1546552 and subscribed you to it. This bug is affecting my main desktop (sole means of revenue- generation) but it doesn't seem to pop up that often so I may just battle through with 15.10 and not downgrade in anticipation of a solution in the not too distant future. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1540001 Title: visual becomes distorted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1540001/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1546552] [NEW] Display distorts when performing some actions
Public bug reported: On occasions, like when trying to install Gimp via the Software Centre, the display distorts so that it is not readable. Sometimes moving the mouse around frantically puts the screen temporarily to a state where it is again readable but then distorts again almost immediately. Opening other apps, or going to a terminal screen, and then back sometimes gets the display back to normal and I can get some work done. Highly annoying and very unproductive so have had to move other business machines back to 15.04 which did not display the problem. Maybe not related but sometimes the terminal (in a window) loses the mouse and seems the only way to recover is to restart the terminal. Also mousing over the Launch (Unity) menu bar sometimes leaves traces of the tooltips on the screen. Working in OpenOffice/LibreOffice - sometimes small bits of text are slightly garbled. Scrolling to move the affected text off the screen and then back on corrects the display. mike@GX520:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 15.10 Release:15.10 Probably the same issue as bug #1540001. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1507255] Re: Garbled graphics in Wily with Intel GMA4500 chip
Ubuntu Trusty 20160217 amd64 is still affected so I doubt that a fix will land for 14.04.4. That will be problematic for less advanced users affected because both the Wily and the updated Trusty images offered from the main download page(s) will fail to work. To me the obvious simple "workaround" is to recommend using the archived 14.04.1 images that still use the 3.13 series kernel as these are not affected. The one caveat that those writing release notes and/or release announcements is when we recommend using the archived 14.04.1 images we must be certain to warn of ubiquity bug #1265192 so users don't inadvertently wipe out existing data. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507255 Title: Garbled graphics in Wily with Intel GMA4500 chip To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1507255/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1507255] Re: Garbled graphics in Wily with Intel GMA4500 chip
As far as reporting upstream to move the status from incomplete back to confirmed - I have no idea what I'm doing :^( Is this an X bug as originally thought? Or a kernel bug as now seems to be the case? I clearly can't create a new bugzilla account and file a bug report when I have no idea what I'm doing. AFAIK incomplete bugs expire?
