Any chance on providing more instructions on how to resolve?

I thought I had installed the above deb successfully, but it didn't seem
to make a difference. Most likely I've not done something right.

Many thanks!

I had upgraded the kernel, but this didn't fix the issue.

I upgraded the bios to a12, and now I can suspend and my display comes

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1568429] Re: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled

2016-04-22 Thread Charlie McMackin
Yes, Catalyst has been the only driver that has been working for me so
far. I don't believe the radeon driver was working before either, I
remember having a similar problem when I upgraded to 15.10.

Thanks for the debugging tip. However it didn't work. Immediately after
running the modprobe command the screens go blank, lose signal input,
and then after about 5 seconds the machine reboots. After logging in
again, I found that dmesg didn't have a chance to pipe its output to the
file either.

Definitely seems to be a bug closer to the kernel / drm

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573760] [NEW] screen remains black after hibernation or suspend to RAM

2016-04-22 Thread YS1
Public bug reported:

I just installed XUbuntu 16.06 on my laptop.
Suspend to RAM and hibernation seem to work correctly, but resuming from either
of it is not actually possible because the screen remains black. Concerning

TuxOnIce.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1568429] Re: Radeon won't work with KMS enabled

2016-04-22 Thread Jonathan
I read you Phoronix comment while updating my own copy from 14.04.
Personal update went fine while using almost same card (HD 5750.) but
was already using radeon driver.

>From what I gather you were using catalyst before update. Any idea if
radeon driver worked with older version?

X with disabled KMS isn't supported. Your X logs essentially are from
trying this.

Something to try;
Add "modprobe.blacklist=radeon" to GRUB command line.
>From terminal;
sudo modprobe radeon ; sleep 1 ; dmesg > dmesg.log
If no errors startx.

Also just tried with the .deb from

To future users: add nomodeset and then use wget to get it and install
it that way. Look me a while to figure out why tty1-6 was not working ;)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 881433] Re: Mouse wheel doesn't scroll in 'less' pager in lxterminal

2016-04-22 Thread Vlad Orlov
Fixed in vte 1:0.28.2-5ubuntu2:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1340687

Scrolling should now work in any vte-based terminal, starting from Ubuntu 15.10.
Unfortunately, I was unable to convince the maintainers to apply the patch in
12.04 and 14.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1564156] Re: xenial: invalid opcode when using llvmpipe

2016-04-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package llvm-toolchain-3.8 - 1:3.8-2ubuntu3

---
llvm-toolchain-3.8 (1:3.8-2ubuntu3) xenial; urgency=medium

  * rules: Allow LLVM tests to fail on i386, we know dropping AVX512 breaks
them.

llvm-toolchain-3.8 (1:3.8-2ubuntu2) xenial; urgency=medium

  * drop-avx512-from-skylake.diff: Don't enable AVX512 on Skylake, as it's
a server cpu feature and breaks llvmpipe on workstations. (LP: #1564156)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573520] [NEW] Data race in libxcb1

2016-04-22 Thread Henry
Public bug reported:

There's a data race in libxcb1_1.10-2ubuntu1_amd64 which is reproduced when
running Virtualbox with 3D acceleration enabled.
This bug relates to Bug #1179617. Below is stack trace of this data race. This
bug was fixed by upstream three years ago but it hasn't merged into our code. I
have patched my library and Virtualbox haven't crashed since then.

Fix:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1556459] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad W530] Regression: cannot set up 3 display configuration any more (Optimus)

2016-04-22 Thread Max Waterman
I just upgraded from 15.10 to 16.04. I was using a 3 monitor
configuration with no problem, but after the upgrade's reboot, it came
up with all three monitors mirrored. Attempting to use the System
Settings/Screen Display shows the 'Mirror displays' box checked.

Attempting to change the configuration shows that the monitors have been
detected correctly and I can select their size/etc. Unfortunately,
clicking 'Apply' results in the error :

"Failed to apply configuration: %s

GCBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such
interface 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.XRANDR_2' on object at path /org/
gnome/SettingsDaemon/XRANDR"

It's a pretty disappointing upgrade, tbh.
