[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1633075] Re: xkb configuration
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1573959] Re: On-screen text disappears after suspend
Same issue here on multiple dell latitudes E6540 laptops in company (using Ubuntu 14.04.5). And it does happen after resuming from a suspend. Almost every open application is affected with distorted/missing letters. Looks like http://askubuntu.com/questions/584922/how-do-i-fix-fonts-not-rendering- and-missing-letters (intel driver issue?). Only restarting lightdm (or logging out and in again), fixed the situation. root@tom-laptop:/home/tdesloovere# lshw -sanitize -numeric -C display *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:416] vendor: Intel Corporation [8086] physical id: 2 bus info: pci@:00:02.0 version: 06 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:33 memory:f580-f5bf memory:d000-dfff ioport:f000(size=64) root@tom-laptop:/home/tdesloovere# lspci -vvnn -d 8086:416 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:05be] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR- [disabled] Capabilities: [90] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit- Address: fee00018 Data: Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI+ D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 NoSoftRst- PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Capabilities: [a4] PCI Advanced Features AFCap: TP+ FLR+ AFCtrl: FLR- AFStatus: TP- Kernel driver in use: i915 root@tom-laptop:/home/tdesloovere# dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-xenial ii xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-xenial 2:2.99.917+git20160325-1ubuntu1~trusty1 amd64X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573959 Title: On-screen text disappears after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1573959/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1631288] Re: XV video screen always on top
No, xserver-xorg-video-intel is available, but it's not used by default on most hw. Instead they use the default modesetting driver and 2D acceleration is provided by glamor. Glamor is used on radeon/amdgpu/some nouveau as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1631288 Title: XV video screen always on top To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1631288/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

You've manually removed it then, before it got the update for #1572855 which would've un-diverted the file. I'm not sure to catch the fix. Have you removed the intel X driver from 16.10 ?
