With a live USB stick or a freshly installed version of 18.04, gnome-
shell crashes at startup. I get this error in dmesg:
gnome-shell[]: segfault at xx ip xx sp xx error 4 in
nouveau_dri.so[]
The computer is a MacBook Pro with a GeForce 320M GPU. Using the
proprieta
(Note: I'm using Fedora, not Ubuntu - but figured, this info will still
be useful to anyone affected by the bug.)
I've upgraded from Fedora 27 to 28, and the bug went away. My best guess
is that updating Gnome from 3.26 to 3.28 is what fixed it. (The kernel
versions don't seem to have any effect.)

Ok I fixed the problem on my system. This has nothing to do with
libglvnd but I don't know to which package it should be attributed.
Problem (at least for me) seems to be linked to
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/50_check_unity_support
that fails (as I had uninstalled unity after update) and causes Xsession

Identical issue here on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) aka model
MacBookPro5,5 using Ubuntu 18.04 final release.
I can also attest that this issue does not only affect Ubuntu. Fedora 27
exhibits the same symptoms for me.
Do not know if it is related, but simply resting one finger on the
touchpad

Running on a live evaluation gets proper HW acceleration, but I'd really
rather avoid having to reinstall if it can be avoided. A pointer for
where to look for trouble would be much appreciated, all of the obvious
log files show no sign of trouble.

The issue manifested itself after I upgraded to the final release
yesterday. I don't think it's related to similar other bugs as I have
