[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1799545] [NEW] System shutdown/reboot when starting a game since Ubuntu 18.10
Public bug reported: Ever since I updated from 18.04 to 18.10, I'm no longer able to play a game like Heroes of Newerth. As soon as the game start after the picking phase, my system completely shuts off/reboots. Testing with a game like Warsow gives me the same result. In about 50% of the crashes it is just turning the system off completely. In the other 50% it reboots the system and it's the BIOS telling me about a probable power issue and anti-surge protection was triggered. I disabled the systems anti-surge protection in the BIOS as a test. No change again, the system just turns off. The PSU should be fine though, as all was running smooth in Ubuntu 18.04. All was fine on 18.04 with the default open source drivers in combination with my AMD RX480 card. Lowering every graphic setting (resolution, anti-aliasing, etc.) in the game to a minimum does not help in any way. Due to it being a complete crash, I don't quite know where to report what since I have no error nor log messages to go on. Nothing of any use (recent or related to the crash) is available in /var/crash. As an additional test I tried a Wayland session instead of the Xorg session I normally use. The result is the same, a hard crash of the system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1799462] [NEW] Nouveau preventing 18.04 live from booting
Public bug reported: I am attempting to do a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04 on a new server (Supermicro X10DRH-iLN4) with an NVidia GTS 1050. It currently has 14.04 desktop installed and it installs/works without issues. I am using a live USB stick with either desktop 18.04, 18.04.01 or server 18.04.01 and no matter what happens I get the following error: [3.244017] nouveau .81.00.0: bus: MMIO read of FAULT at 122124 [IBUS]. After this error shows, I an unable to proceed further and a reboot is necessary so I am unable to do the below reporting. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1799232] Re: Thunderbolt displays jump to the right occasionally
I'm currently going down the road of replacing the startech device. The only thing that made me wonder if it was a software problem is that using the 'screen display' utility to move one screen, apply, then revert, seemed to fix the problem, albeit temporarily. I noticed while debugging on Windows that the same problem happens there, so that seems to suggest it isn't software...but the same trick to temporarily fix it, using the corresponding Windows utility to move the displays, does not seem to fix it. I wonder if the ubuntu 'screen display' utility does some kind of 'reset' on the thunderbolt interface and/or the startech adaptor. In any case, it is looking like hardware...what do you think? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799232 Title: Thunderbolt displays jump to the right occasionally To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1799232/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1799280] Re: Low graphics mode with ubuntu 18.04
Hi Daniel, Many thanks for your email and advice. When I try to boot from default kernel, I get a frozen screen (once the cursor appears). It stays frozen and I have to disconnect the power to reboot. That is why I booted in recovery mode as advised by Ubuntu Forums. What would be your advice. Thanks. Hello Daniel I attempted all three steps and I came across the message in the screenshot. When I click send there is no further message. I am not sure how to find an id number. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1785964] Re: Unable to unlock the desktop session: systemd-logind: got pause for 13:69
Hi all, You can add another person to the list Ubuntu 18.04.1 + all updates + meas 18.2.3 Dell 7470 using internal Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U No Wayland. There are many more people like us: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1038723/slow-recovering-from-lock-screen-ubuntu-18-04 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1074235/ubuntu-18-04-hangs-after-screen-lock This bug drives me crazy. I can post logs, but my messages are like with other cases. IMHO this happens only if the deivce stays locked for a longer period. I.e. 1H or suspended -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1785964 Title: Unable to unlock the desktop session: systemd-logind: got pause for 13:69 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1785964/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1798739] Re: [amdgpu] All video games freeze 5-10mins into play
Thanks. It looks like something is crashing at the end (where you see "whoopsie") but I can't yet tell what. Firstly, please remove/disable all gnome-shell extensions as they are often the cause of crashes. Secondly... Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1798739 Title: [amdgpu] All video games freeze 5-10mins into play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1798739/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1737750] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers fail to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’]
I'm done with this. Took out the nVidia card today, only to run into the same old performance problems (i.e. no smooth video playback) with the i915 driver (which were the initial reasons to switch to nVidia). Even without the card, I'm still running into this bug. Guess I have to manually remove the nVidia drivers as well. What a mess. AMD here I come. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737750 Title: nvidia-graphics-drivers fail to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+bug/1737750/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hello Daniel I did not receive any instructions, or any text at all in your last message. I am just wanting to know if there is any update on this issue and how to solve it.
