[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801225] [NEW] cmake files are misplaced

2018-11-01 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

While reading about bpftrace I discovered that the Ubuntu LLVM or Clang
packaging is apparently not quite correct:

https://github.com/iovisor/bpftrace/issues/76

Thus the install instructions for bpftrace includes adding apt.llvm.org's key
to the APT trusted keys:
https://github.com/iovisor/bpftrace/blob/master/INSTALL.md

I tried the instructions myself (skipping the LLVM repository) on my
18.04 LTS host, with both llvm-5.0 and llvm-6.0 packages, and got
similar results:

sarnold@hunt:~/trees/bpftrace/build$ aa-exec -p untrusted-compile cmake
-Wno-dev -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=DEBUG -DLLVM_DIR=/usr/lib/llvm-6.0/lib/cmake/llvm/
-DClang_DIR=/usr/share/llvm-6.0/cmake/ ..
CMake Error at /usr/share/llvm-6.0/cmake/ClangConfig.cmake:18 (include):
include could not find load file:

/usr/lib/cmake/clang/ClangTargets.cmake
Call Stack (most recent call first):
  CMakeLists.txt:72 (find_package)

See also "/home/sarnold/trees/bpftrace/build/CMakeFiles/CMakeError.log".

Consider replacing the harddisk with a new one and then reinstall Ubuntu

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801202] Re: Xorg freeze

2018-11-01 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

This behavior is also encountered when using the nouveau display driver
on a fresh install that hasn't had nvidia drivers installed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1801181] Re: Pixelized display

2018-11-01 Thread Cristian Aravena Romero
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1800555] Re: Computer slow. Error reports appear.

2018-11-01 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1742711] Re: MIR: vulkan-loader

2018-11-01 Thread Timo Aaltonen
vulkan-loader builds two packages, libvulkan1 and libvulkan-dev. Mesa
build-depens on libvulkan-dev, but since build-depends from universe are
fine then it should be enough to promote libvulkan1

and that's also what will want to migrate once ubuntu-desktop depends on
mesa-vulkan-drivers

about the comments in #6;

- there's only one patch, to fix pkgconfig, which is self-explanatory
- I'm looking into building with tests enabled, but IIRC running them by hand
shows that ~10% pass, which means there's something systematically wrong which
I haven't wrapped my head around yet
- source-format/quilt; yeah that's probably a leftover of the old packaging,
will fix it

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1800963] Re: Changing Primary DIsplay Flips Which Display Has The Dock

2018-11-01 Thread jimlovell777
apport information

** Tags added: ubuntu

** Description changed:

On a fresh install from at least Ubuntu 17.04 up to 18.10, when I change
Settings->Dock->Show on to a specific monitor on a dual monitor setup,
this setting gets flipped if I change the primary display in
  Settings->Devices->Displays->Primary Display.

For Example I have Monitor A and Monitor B
After a fresh install Monitor A is primary with title bar, clock, etc. and
the dock. If I change the dock to Show on Monitor B it moves as desired. But
when I change Primary Display to Monitor B also, the dock immediately goes to
Monitor A again. When I check the Show on setting it still displays Monitor B
but it's actually on Monitor A. Selecting Monitor A will move the dock to
Monitor B.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1795760] Re: Xwayland crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort()

2018-11-01 Thread Gert van de Kraats
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1745799 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1745799

As stated above this bug report is not a duplicate and contains working code to
solve the bug.
Using this code doesn ot give any risk to the main stream of the code, it only
handles an exception.
I thought it might be a pleasure to get a solution for a problem.
PLease do something with it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power

2018-11-01 Thread Stefan Girstmair
Or should I maybe try to make a clean install of 18.10 as you said that
it should be fixed in it and maybe I just have some stuff from 18.04
still here that does not work and I am not experienced enough to find
it? I just thought that there would be a way to make it work here.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1774188] Re: Unlocking the screen takes 5 seconds in Xorg sessions (not so much in Wayland sessions)

2018-11-01 Thread bitinerant
I occasionally see this on two separate 18.04 installations using Xorg
sessions. The time to unlock varies from a couple of seconds to several
minutes. Everything other than unlocking the screen feels to work at a
normal speed.

I can reliably reproduce this issue (cause screen unlocking to take
several minutes) by reading files from my Android 8 phone over USB
(phone in "Use USB to transfer files" mode; Ubuntu directory
/run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host...). (Probably not related, but this file
transfer seems extremely slow.)

See also: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1038723 (5 people
experiencing this issue; no solution)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1765451] Re: im trying

2018-11-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
