- The startup problems (distorted console) are solved when i use the karmic
2.6.31 based kernel
- The XvMC problems seem to be due to a wrong setting of the playback engine in
mythtv (Standard XvMC i.s.o. Via XvMC). How this setting got

I just tried the 2.6.31-8.10 rt kernel with fglrx and the kernel module
build fails. This is from the terminal when installing the kernel
headers. This is a clean stock karmic beta install fully updated to
today with fglrx already installed on the generic kernel. The rt kernel
gave me a short
if anyone would care to look
at it.
This is the first rt kernel since hardy that boots on my hardware and
now with fglrx this is a good day.

White works for me, thank you!
Black fails badly for me, X.org crashes, the Xorg.log for the crash is
attached as xorg_black_crash_log.log. I don't know for sure but I wonder
if this would happen with white too if I plugged the monitor in the
other card.
Can you comment on plans for the release,
that there were no connected monitors.
Interestingly, plugging a monitor in after the boot did not bring
anything up on that monitor.
I don't think this provides enough new insight to decide what the likely
impact of the patch is on the average dual-card system, or other systems.

I have installed 10.04 i386 Desktop on 2 Compaq Evo PCs. On both of them

I have nvidia driver 195 and still have this bug. However restarting
compiz is also a solution. Therefore, i developed a pm-utils hook that
restarts compiz (and gnome-panel) after resuming from suspend or
hibernate only in case openoffice is running.

ivan90112 and paalfe was set to false, and changing it fixed the

I have tested this on the final Ubuntu and Kubuntu releases. Neither
boot properly and just end up at a blank and unresponsive screen exactly
as in the RC. I have not found a vga= setting that works.
I tried running apport-collect 569372, but like Nick above, could not

As the header/title says, this problem arose from the update to 10.04 (that's
Lucid). After the update, I was unable to start KDE. Before the update, while
using 9.10 (that's Karmic), I did not have this problem. Seems to me, that
makes it a Lucid bug. If not a bug, then at least
Until this bug is fixed my workaround is:
sudo cp -p /etc/X11/xorg.conf.failsafe /etc/X11/xorg.conf
NOTE: /etc/X11/xorg.conf did not exist previously
System Preferences Monitors indicates 1280x1024 0hz (previously it had many
settings but this bug existed in all of the previous settings).

I'll just confirm this bug to stop it being closed. I also had to
install libvdpau1 manually after a clean Lucid install. I used Hardware
Drivers to install the NVIDIA driver.

I'm not sure if this is due to a problem in myth, or in xvmc.
My plan is to do a fresh install using the released mythbuntu,
(now it is running an updated prerelease), and see how it
behaves then.
