Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
As soon as Plymouth starts the color depth is set to a low value (I
guess 8 bit). This persists when kdm starts and also after logging in
into KDE.
Being logged in I can enable KDE desktop effects but all modules and

Fixed: On Catalyst 8.771.2 the problem doesn't persist anymore.

Anybody here from the Ubuntu X-Swat PPA have an update on 8.771? The last
check-in for this version is still listed

I also use this package. I had to go back to Linux kernel version
2.6.32-23.
I guess that's not the perfect way for all people

Installing the latest driver (from 26th Mai I think) solved this
problem for me. So I guess a recent version of the driver should be
included to Ubuntu.

Watermark AMD unsupported hardware is displayed
Are there no side effects disabling the whole patch? For example bug
#261977.
Wouldn't it be a better option to add missing ids-files?

I've reset xorg.conf by sudo dpkg-recongigure x-server-xorg so full auto
hardware detection is enabled.
Seems as if a fitting ids-file in /usr/share/xserver-xorg/pci is
missing.
