[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1647750] Re: Black screen on RX480 when monitor awakes from standby
Fair enough, I don't get this precise problem anymore, now it only takes a long while before I see the login screen, but there's another ticket for it somewhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647750 Title: Black screen on RX480 when monitor awakes from standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu/+bug/1647750/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1647750] [NEW] Black screen on RX480 when monitor awakes from standby
Public bug reported: I have an RX480 GPU with three 4K screens attached, running the AMDGPU open-source driver. Once the screens have gone into stand-by (or I shut them off) I get a black screen when I turn them back on. To be more precise: I get a black X11 screen, because the mouse is still visible and able to move around. The cursor even changes when I hover over (what I assume to be) text fields. I've already disabled all the power management options, but it still happens when I manually shut the monitors off. I can still change to another virtual console using the ALT+F keys, then they work, but switching back to the X11 one doesn't fix it. I have to restart lightdm, and then I can log in again. Once I have logged in through this restarted lightdm instance the background image is completely black, but everything else is normal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 543079] [NEW] wrong nvidia driver installed on restricted-driver activation
Public bug reported: After installing the restricted nvidia-drivers and rebooting the driver would fail to load and Ubuntu would revert to the failsafe graphics. In synaptic I saw Ubuntu installed nvidia-current (version 195.36.15 ...) but mixed a few different versions of other packages with it (nvidia-173-modaliases, nvidia-glx-173) I tried installing the correct packages (nvidia-glx-185 and such (which is version 195.36.15; very confusing)) Now the driver says it's enabled but not in use. I thought about changing the xorg.conf file myself, but I haven't had to open one in a year or so and now it appears an xorg.conf file is no longer necessary.
