Me too very upset about this bug: there is patch for several yers - no
one cares. I suggest compromise: add autotools|meson option to enable
this feature. At least every distro would be able to decide whether they
want to provide nonstandard behavior.

I'm using Ctrl+Shift for twelve years since Win XP. I use this
combintaion on my win machines. So it's definetely not an option for me.
Since I use Cyrillic layout I switch layouts frequently (people using
Latin layouts are less affected). Imagine saving action shortcut
"Ctrl+S"
I use both Windows and Linux. BTW Many people don't have a choise of the
OS on their jobs.
I may provide a patch that would make it available to switch the
behaviour in the runtime (I guess a line in xorg.conf would be fine). So
we don't break the standard, people don't need to recompile xorg
High! I face the same problem, it's well known bug in nvidia driver. Fix
isn't yet released.

On my Latitude E6420 running Kubuntu 12.10 (64-bit) with all updates, there is
no splash screen. Instead, I just see text. This laptop has Nvidia graphics,
though Optimus is disabled so that is not the issue

I have already dwitched to Xubuntu, so I don't use Nautilus. And also I
can't reproduce it. May be closed

I've only tested it in Nautilus
To reproduce:
1)Open nautilus
2)Select any file.
3)Hold meny button on the keyboard (it means right-click)
4)I'vepressed and held the key a lot of times (20-30) in a differnt parts,
closed some menu
5)In about 10 seconds there were no keys
