[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875005] [NEW] 3D acceleration not working with NVidia driver
Public bug reported: I have a laptop with both AMD Raven and Nvidia GTX 1050 video adapters. I wanted to test the new game mode in Ubuntu 20.04, and noticed that only the AMD Raven actually works. To do the test, I tried launching a terminal and running gxgears, both in a normal way, and then using the "start using dedicated video adapter" (or whatever it really is in English) option in gnome-shell. Using the standard video adapter (probably the AMD Raven), it works, but slowly. Using the dedicated video adapter, I get the following: juloliv@juloliv:~$ glxgears X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 152 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext) Value in failed request: 0x0 Serial number of failed request: 25 Current serial number in output stream: 26 NB: in both cases, I tried launching nvidia-settings and got the following: juloliv@juloliv:~$ nvidia-settings ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system (nvidia-settings:9213): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 12:33:29.270: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed ** Message: 12:33:29.273: PRIME: No offloading required. Public bug reported: The following has been reported to slack via their (private) ticketing system. Using slack ("deb https://packagecloud.io/slacktechnologies/slack/debian/ jessie main") and with preferences set to "Message Display => Emoji Style => None: plain text only", a numerous quantity of emojis in a single message sent will crash the system and set you back to the session login screen. This only happens with official "slack" package. "scudcloud" is not / does not seem affected. Definition of "numerous": 399 ":rooster:" emojis sent in a single message is enough to crash the system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1486036] [NEW] Faulty graphics behaviour when resuming from suspend with intel graphics drivers
Public bug reported: I will copy and paste an excerpt from the link below. Is this the right place to post the bug? Waking from suspend, everything seems normal, except the graphical elements and text on my desktop are not drawn properly. Sometimes, moving the mouse over icons can cause them to be redrawn, sometimes not. It appears not to matter how I initiate the suspend (e.g. by closing laptop lid, or by calling pm-suspend explicitly) and it appears not to matter whether I am using an external display or the laptop's own screen. All other hardware appears to be working, and I can restart the laptop by clicking where the icons ought to be. The only symptom seems to be that the drawing does not happen correctly. I'm not sure what additional information I should provide to help diagnose the problem, so please advise me. Also, if this is more likely to be a xfce issue, then please change the package on the bug report. What does your xrandr give? I get that the maximum is 32767 or something, although my resolution is not that. Is that normal? Perhaps the resolution changes after suspend? Loic was concerned about adding dependencies, and I was suggesting making them soft rather than hard dependencies. Comment #7 and comment #9 sound conflicting to me, but ok. The only real concern that I see is Michael's: Typically xinit is not run as a root, so the user does not have enough permissions to create a session with parameters. I question weather or not we should try to move this call into X? X is setuid root. I admit that I did not read that comment the first time through as it was collapsed in my view of the bug. On darwin, we trigger a LaunchDaemon in startx to do some privileged actions for xinit (like creating /tmp/.X11-unix). How is this currently handled on other OSs? Still as an init script? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1166988] Re: With latest xserver-xorg update, switching to VT does not work anymore
After remembering the history around this bug, this looks much more like a kernel bug than an xorg bug, as I've remarked the first black screen after upgrading to kernel 3.8.0-17. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166988 Title: With latest xserver-xorg update, switching to VT does not work anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1166988/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1166988] [NEW] With latest xserver-xorg update, switching to VT does not work anymore
Public bug reported: DO : start Kubuntu with latest xserver-xorg package updates. DO : switch to VT using Ctrl+Alt+Fx EXPECT : the screen actually switches to VT ACTUAL : black screen with no signal sent to it (it becomes actually in sleeping mode). However it is possible to switch back to X. Config : AMD Phenom X4 9850 8 GB RAM NVidia GeForce 660 Ti with NVidia 304 proprietary driver Kubuntu 13.04. I underline the fact that my installation lasts from Feisty without any trouble during upgrades, the only difference I see with newer installs is that the font within VT looks like old MS-DOS fonts, instead of the nicer fonts of newer Ubuntu releases, but that's the only noticeable difference. Everything else works fine, and accessing shells through SSH also works, so this is really a display problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 999814] [NEW] Multitouch stops working after a while
Public bug reported: When I boot into my system, an ASUS Zenbook UX31, the elantech touchpad works fine. I have a small script to configure it which is run when my session starts, and those parameters are applied fine without problem. Here is the script, in case something in there might be relevant : #!/bin/sh synclient FingerLow=9 FingerHigh=12 synclient MinSpeed=2.0 MaxSpeed=4.0 AccelFactor=0.1 synclient VertTwoFingerScroll=1 HorizTwoFingerScroll=0 synclient CoastingSpeed=10 CoastingFriction=25 synclient TapButton1=1 TapButton2=3 TapButton3=2 synclient EdgeMotionMinZ=30 EdgeMotionMaxZ=40 EdgeMotionMinSpeed=100 EdgeMotionMaxSpeed=400 synclient PalmDetect=1 PalmMinWidth=5 PalmMinZ=1 #must restart syndaemon to set those params. killall syndaemon syndaemon -i 1 -t -K -d The issue is that after a while, the multitouch just stops working. I am still able to use the touchpad, but it cannot scroll with two fingers, I cannot tap with two-three fingers to right-middle click, it's all gone. I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact issue yet. I have also encountered this issue with the 3.4.0-rc6 kernel. In 11.10, everything ran smoothly, and I never encountered this issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916568] Re: Multiple focus problems on first connexion
I don't see anything exotic in my configuration (either software or hardware) but here are some elements : - Motherboard : Gigabyte P55-UD6 - CPU Core i5 - 4GoRAM - GPU : NVidia 9800GT Silent - the issues occures on both 32bits-PAE Precise and 64bits Oneiric installation (Dual-boot) - I don't have other OS installed on this PC I can't test on live USB now (no key and no CD available) but I'll try the Week-end. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916568] Re: Multiple focus problems on first connexion
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise ubuntu ** Description changed: Hello, [EDIT] Unlike what I thought, the problem is probably not related to compiz: I get the same type of problem under Unity2D[/EDIT] [EDIT] and gnome-shell[/EDIT] [EDIT2] and openbox too... [/EDIT2] The bug appears in my 11.10 system with the last update of compiz (i.e. 01-05-2012). At the first connection after the boot, I face many problems with the focus on the interface: I can generally use the Unity-dash to launch an application (sometimes two) but then the dash no longer appears correctly, the indicators either, I can not focus from one window to another ... However, I noticed that the keyboard shortcuts usually work. So I find myself stuck. The only workaround I've found is to launch a system-Alt-k and then reconnect. Here the problem doesn't reproduce until next boot. I made a video showing the expected behavior (after reconnection) and the behavior that I get on startup: http://ubuntuone.com/5tD98knn0gNXPofcknz285 The audio comment is in French, but I was unable to do this in English ... - I hope this report will be useful ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916568] Re: Multiple focus problems on first connexion
** Package changed: ubuntu = xorg (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: Hello, [EDIT] Unlike what I thought, the problem is probably not related to compiz: I get the same type of problem under Unity2D[/EDIT] [EDIT] and - gnome-shell[/EDIT] [EDIT2] end openbox too... [/EDIT2] + gnome-shell[/EDIT] [EDIT2] and openbox too...
