[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1023207] Re: Xorg crash

2014-01-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ken Sharp, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

+ While trying to upload some videos to Google+ my hard drive went insane,
Unity crashed, then X and now X won't start!

I can find no logical reason why this happened, nor do I have any idea
  how to fix it.

I have ran fsck on all the partitions and tried setting X to the default
  settings.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1023207] Re: Xorg crash

2012-07-10 Thread Ken Sharp
I got my system working again by:

1. Loading failsafe X
2. Downloading and installing the latest fglrx
3. Rebooted (but then Wine wouldn't start - this is usually a sign that fglrx
is NOT installed)
4. Installed the fglrx-updates packages
5. Rebooted

I'm back to normal for now AFAICT. This doesn't explain what happened,
however.
