Public bug reported:

On a fresh installation of Ubuntu 11.10 I got problems with the
brightness. As soon I try to change it with the keyboard keys I am not
able to increase it to a usable value.

The problem is related to the max_brightness set as 1025, while the normal
value when the system starts is 119443. These two values comes from the files:
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:17.0/0000:04:00.0/drm/card0/card0-LVDS-1/nv_backlight/brightness

/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:17.0/0000:04:00.0/drm/card0/card0-LVDS-1/nv_backlight/actual_brightness
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:17.0/0000:04:00.0/drm/card0/card0-LVDS-1/nv_backlight/max_brightness
