Scott, would you be able to describe in detail how to work around this

Thank you for the work around Scott.
It does appears to address the incorrectly displayed kde menus. :-)
A side effect I have noticed is that typing appears to be slower to
respond. For instance while typing this message in Firefox, I can see
some temporary artifacts around each letter when I
Of note regarding the work around is that the temporary artifacting
problem (when typing quickly) appears to be more pronounced in GNU
Emacs.

Great work Robert!!!
I added the PPA and performed a sudo apt-get upgrade, and then
rebooted. After booting up natty, the problem with screen corruption in
menus and title bars was gone! For my testing, the DebugFlushBatches
workaround was not in place.
Also of note is the missing slow typing
madbiologist, yes I can confirm that this fixed the problem for me.
Recently I tried kubuntu-11.04-beta2-desktop-amd64.iso and can confirm
that the problem appears to be fixed in this new beta2 release.

Through trial and error I have discovered two work-arounds that appear
to address the video tearing problem for 1080i video on Intel HD 3000
Graphics GPUs.
For mplayer see the following link:

For mythtv see the following link:
Eureka! I have discovered an even better work around for Mythbuntu
MythTV. This new workaround not only addresses the video tearing
problem, but also addresses the small amount of juddering that was
present in the workaround identified in comment #23.
For Mythbuntu 11.04 MythTV see the
I too am experiencing High Definition video tearing with my Intel
sandybridge CPU/GPU processors. Most of the time the tearing occurs on
the upper third of the screen.
This problem occurs on both an Intel i7-2600K and on an Intel i5-2500K.
Both of these chips feature Intel High Definition

Envel, if you need help with testing or something else just let me know.
I do have a background in C and am the maintainer of the GParted
application.
I have two systems for testing:
- ASUS P8M61-M motherboard and an Intel i5-2500k CPU
- ASUS P8M67-M Pro/CSM motherboard and an Intel i7-2600k CPU
I don't have a 4K monitor, but the following steps fixed video tearing
with Kubuntu 16.04 on my Intel i7-2600k CPU with integrated Intel HD
3000 Graphics.
Edit /etc/environment and add the following lines:
__GL_YIELD="USLEEP"
KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=0
KWIN_USE_BUFFER_AGE=0
Save the file and reboot.
Recently I encountered this problem and discovered a solution. I posted
my solution at:

The upstream GParted team added a work-around to version 0.30.0 to
enable it to run seamlessly under Wayland.

I tried using OpenGL and EGL for the compositor, but unfortunately EGL
has issues. More specifically with EGL I experienced an inability to
login due to SDDM login screen hangs. This is similar to the issue I
experienced with XRender [1] which I noted earlier in this report.

Hi Timo,
Thank you for your perseverance to resolve this issue.
I am at a writers conference for the next three days. My earliest
opportunity to test will be on Monday, August 13th, 2018. I will plan
to test xorg-server from xenial-proposed and let you know after I've
completed testing.
In
release package then please let me know.
Sincerely,
