It is still happening in Ubuntu 13.10. A workaround is to disable the
dedicated GPU via vgaswitcheroo early in the boot process.
I will try to test this behavior in the development version of 14.04,
but as this is my working laptop, I cannot make promises.

I am having a similar problem on my laptop since I upgraded to 12.10. It

I don't understand. I am having this problem with VLC. I wanted to check

should be re-opened, at least for VLC.

I have a MUXed hybrid graphics notebook with Intel Ironlake / AMD
HD5650m GPUs and since upgrading to Ubuntu 13.04 (from 12.10) I have
been having problems with vga_switcheroo.
As stated in bug #1162526 I can't switch to the discrete GPU as I could

I think that this bug may be partially solved. I was wrong, ClickPad
wasn't enabled by default. It is now, since a update in xorg in the last
week.
I can now enable Soft Buttons in my Envy 14 with this line at start-up:
xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Soft Button
Areas" 38
I tried the script "enable-rightbutton.sh" in the ubuntuforums page
MatatTHC said and it works well. It does not enable middle-click touch
area, but is a start. Maybe there is a way of shipping this script with
the default Ubuntu install?
