libvdpau takes the VDPAU driver vendor name from the DRI2 extension. If you have Intel HD Graphics, that will be i965. The error is printed by libvdpau. The problem lies between libvdpau, and the VDPAU driver or lack thereof. vdpauinfo, mplayer, mpv and VLC can do nothing about it. In my opinion,
