Wow, thanks. My old setup used DVI. I either need to get a new HDMI 1.3 cable or some kind of fantastic HDMI to DVI adapter. Looks like your hardware is not able to get so high rate (see the xrand output). Its not because you set a modeline higher that your hardware will follow.
