[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752709] Re: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 18.04 (bionic) reached end-of-standard-support on May 31, 2023. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it anymore. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752709 Title: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1752709/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Reproduced it with the current 18.04. - resume after stand-by - switch to a different VT solves the problem There are a couple of similar bugs and suggestions to disable Wayland in the /etc/gdm3/custom.conf But for me, disabling Wayland doesn't help at all -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752709 Title: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1752709/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752709] Re: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume
I can reproduce the issue by unplugging and usb stick! When I plug it in nothing special happens, but when I unplug it the bug appears immediately. The same workaroud (switching VTs) resolves it temporarily. It does not happen 100% of the time though. It did happen 4 times in a row a few minutes ago. I don't see anything unusual in the log. Here is what I got when unplugging, the first time it triggered the bug: Mar 2 13:48:02 tadzim3 kernel: [48565.861661] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, device number 15 Mar 2 13:48:02 tadzim3 upowerd[2322]: unhandled action 'unbind' on /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:14.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0 Mar 2 13:48:02 tadzim3 upowerd[2322]: unhandled action 'unbind' on /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:14.0/usb2/2-2 Mar 2 13:48:02 tadzim3 dbus-daemon[1112]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.hostname1' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.hostname1.service' requested by ':1.1503' (uid=1000 pid=3197 comm="/usr/bin/gnome-shell " label="unconfined") Mar 2 13:48:02 tadzim3 systemd[1]: Starting Hostname Service... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752709] Re: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume
It seems Unity is not affected. I took some time to respond because I could not reproduce the bug yesterday after rebooting the machine. It seems something triggers the bug, and once it has been triggered I can consistently reproduce it with pm-suspend, even after logging out and back in (this in itself makes the issue disappear, but suspending makes it appear again). So now that it occurred again, I logged several times into Unity and Gnome Shell (xorg), and executing pm-suspend always made the problem appear in Gnome Shell, and never did in Unity. I still do not know what triggers the bug in the first place, but it seems to occur usually when I go from work to home or vice versa, which implies suspending, closing the lid, unplugging the AC adapter, external monitor and USB hub. For what it's worth, the problem occurs with my USB mouse and with my Bluetooth mouse. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752709 Title: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1752709/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I would like to find out if this is a problem in libinput. Can you please try installing Unity (package 'unity-session')? Then log in to Unity and tell us if the problem also occurs there? ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: libinput (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752709 Title: Left mouse button gets stuck down (in software), usually after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1752709/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
