The Puzzler is a real gaming store, run by a former staffer from Games
People Play. They host a game night every Thursday at 6:30. They use the
mullet strategy for organizing their stock--business up front (popular
sellers like Ticket to Ride and puzzles), party in the back (Warhammer,
 heavy Euros).

Re: New Shop on the south end of the valley...

2015-12-22 Thread Bagley Kendon
Well to be fair, if Boardgame Revolution was any indication, a discount
model doesn't work for a brick and mortar store without the proper support
of an online store. Retail locations have more overhead and make less money
than people realize. Full retail pricing is unfortunately kind of a
necessity.

Much like Boardgame Revolution it is a discount store that is 15-20%
off retail. I just met the owner today and he knows his stuff. If you are
on the south end be sure to look them up. They are located in a strip mall
near the Daylight Donuts in Springville at 1190 North Main (East side of
 Main street).

Would love to help keep a discount store in business for the south end
 of the valley.

Much like Boardgame Revolution it is a discount store that is 15-20%
off retail. I just met the owner today and he knows his stuff. If
 you are
on the south end be sure to look them up. They are located in a strip
 mall
near the Daylight Donuts in Springville at 1190 North Main (East side

Would love to help keep a discount store in business for the south
 end of the valley.

2014-11-02 Thread Bret Swalberg
I have similar feelings. Isn't the new owner on this list? I thought I
remembered him announcing the purchase here a couple years ago. I'm
interested to hear what led to their demise.

I will miss BGR. I had shopped with them since the beginning (I remember

 their direction.

I will miss them BIG time. Hopefully this new store is able to take care
of the community here in the same way. Although the hours certainly aren't
 as good.

2014-11-02 Thread Kenneth Li
Matthew,

I saw them - BGR at the comic con a month back and have a chat with Chris
(the owner), he told me they are doing fine and the rumor of them shutting
down is not true, their shelves is bear is because there is not a lot of
new games recently... That is when I talk to him at the con in September
6th or 7th...

So you know anything about why they close their doors?

I know Chris, have played with him before...
