You should put path to oracle libs to /etc/ld.so.conf and run
ldconfig after that
Note that this is right for Linux. It may require other actions

I am using Sun 5.6., 'make' 3.78 and Oracle 8. I compiled with the Oracle 8 option
and running configure confirmed this. When I went to run make and make install they
performed without error. However, when I went to run indexer I received
