Currently the description field in the URL table allows for storage of 100
chars of data - I'd like to increase that to 255 as the academics here are
quite verbose in their abstracts :-)
I've increased the actual field size and re-run indexer (after a -C)

Try to search for "ñÐÏÎÉÑ" or "ñËÏ×" or "éóôïòéñ", and you will see nothing, if you
try to search for
"ÑÐÏÎÉÑ" or "ÉÓÔÏÒÉÑ" you will see correct result

I have a fairly hefty problem with UDM search, I'm not sure what's causing it.
OK, let's start with the hardware that I'm using:
The host that's indexing stuff is a dual SparcII 450, it has 2G RAM, and LOTS of hard
drive [80G or so available
Well, I have one kinda working.
It involves a few files, it would be way better, but it's a proof of concept
thing...

UDM is returning zero results using perl frontend on redhat 6.2.
According to the following results (and my understanding of the
Udmsearch docs) there are 164202 10 character words (table ndict10),
251805 6 character words (table ndict6), and 174578 two character

I switched to PHP as the front end and it returns this:
Query error: SELECT flag,lang,mask,find,repl FROM affix WHERE type='s'
Table 'udmsearch.affix' doesn't exist
What does this mean?
