British philanthropist says Museveni was born in Burundi
 Last updated : 01 Feb 2008, Kampala

A reader has sent us an interesting bit of information which we thought we
should share with you our esteemed readers.

He or she has told us that this information could throw some more light on
the question of Museveni's origins.

Many Ugandans are obsessed with the question of Musevenis origins because
they are honestly trying to understand the way he rules. He has not only
grabbed the national wealth for himself, but he is the chief protector of
the biggest crooks and thieves, both national and international, who operate
in and from Uganda.

The theory is that he is out to wreck Uganda as a country because he is a
foreigner who suffered a lot of discrimination as a youngster. So he is out
to pay back for all those years of suppressed anger and humiliation by
owning the whole country including its people, as his private property.
There are some people who try to explain these questions that like any other
people, Ugandans are displaying the instinctive distrust of foreigners, but
most reasonable people are just simply struggling to understand how a true
son of the soil could do the malicious things Museveni does with a clear
conscience.

Over the years there have been rumours about a scandal involving his mother
Esteri Kokundeka which made her be sent away from her home in Rwanda.

Radio Katwe readers have sent us letters which talked of Museveni's mother
fleeing from Rwanda to Burundi to escape her family's anger resulting from
that family scandal. She eventually ended up in southern Uganda.

For us we thought these were just rumours by excited Katwe fans. Then a
person with a very sharp mind was reading a book and he came across a
reference to Museveni.

The book is called All Things
Considered<http://books.google.com/books?id=_SFkooO_pIkC>.
It is an autobiography by a retired army officer called Major Richard
Carr-Gomm, who quit the British army to start charity work and became one of
Britains most important philathropists. He was a friend of the late Edward
Mutesa the Kabaka of Buganda. He has visited Uganda and was one of the party
which brought the body of the late Kabaka Edward Mutesa back for burial
during Amins regime.

We invite you to read this link to page 140 in the book where writing about
the turbulent politics of the 80's he says of Museveni that quote :* "the
rebel leader Museveni (born in Burundi) assumed power in 1986"*
http://books.google.com<http://books.google.com/books?id=_SFkooO_pIkC&pg=PA140&lpg=PA140&dq=Richard+Carr-Gomm+Museveni&source=web&ots=KfefYP2KOL&sig=BKopjZ-UFjG-J5WYUYmeE3bmUzY#PPA140,M1>

Mr. Carr-Gomm does not explain where he got the information that Museveni
was born in Burundi. We should note that this is a man who took his time to
write about Uganda and the Kabaka. He did not write to oppose or to
embarrass Museveni but he only wrote to explain facts as he knew them.

So we ask whether anybody has more information on Museveni being born in
Burundi. Did Mr Carr-Gomm simply repeat a story he had also heard, or was he
relying on facts? If they are facts, are they solid enough for Ugandans to
take Museveni to court and strip him of his office as he is a foreigner?
That is the most common reason people have to explain why he is busy selling
off Uganda's assets because he does not have the country at heart.

We also need to confirm some info we got that when Janet Museveni's nephew
by the names of Andrew Kangaho clashed with Museveni over a girl at State
House and he fled to Rwanda, Kangaho was staying with his relatives who are
the same relatives of Janet. We need to know the roots of Janet Museveni.
