Kampala UYM boss quits THE chairperson of the Uganda Young Movementists (UYM) Kampala chapter, Dr. Kim Mutokambali, has resigned, reports Maurice Okore. Mutokambali resigned recently following a disagreement by the UYM executive over a proposal to hold a party for Democratic Party (DP) strongman Alhajji Nasser Ntege Ssebagala, upon his completion of his studies in the UK. Speaking at a news conference in Kampala after his resignation, Mutokambali said he would remain a staunch member of the Movement despite falling out with his colleagues. “We disagreed over the return of Ssebagala. But that does not stop me from being a Movementist. Right now, I am even more Movementist than ever,” he said, adding that the party was intended to create a warm relationship with DP supporters and to woo them into the Movement. “Some UYM members think it is not right to associate with members of other parties. They are promoting hatred. They forget that we have a chance to persuade Ssebagala to join the Movement now,” Mutokambali said, adding that he would focus on contesting for the Rubaga South parliamentary seat in 2006.
