Four killed as demonstrators turn violent
A PEACEFUL demonstration organised by some District leaders in Lira town has turned violent, with police shooting in the air to disperse about 20,000 people. The people are reportedly marching to protest last weekend's massacre by Lords Resistance Army (LRA) rebels.

The shooting reportedly started as the demonstrators vandalised district offices and attempted to force their way into the army barracks.

Four people have been killed in the demonstration which was originally being led by among other the Distrct Chairman who was in company of the Catholic and Anglican Church Bishops of Lango and Lira Dioceses respectively.

A New Vision Correspondent on the ground is currently interviewing the Distrct Chairman.
