Northern wound becoming septic?

Itâs sad and unfortunate if the reports of ethnic targeting in Lango are true. Eighteen years of suffering and the Barlonyo massacre are finally taking their toll on the local population, leaving government with the huge task of pacifying the people.
The bitter dreg to this heady situation is to realise that in spite of governmentâs efforts, that part of the country has been seriously neglected.
Many lives are lost on a daily basis.

And now looking back 18 years, not one of the promises from the powers that be shows any real positive result. Each year, massive defense expenditures are justified as morally righteous, necessary and patriotic. Moreover, with each pronouncement, the people of the North have been optimistic and patient. Itâs as if their mindset was pre-programmed to accept all of this like it is written in stone.Thatâs the problem: the belief that everything is on course to end the war.
The belief that thereâs no flaw in the governmentâs agenda. Thereâs some fringe crap out there that is becoming increasingly believable every day. That, indeed, thereâs next to nothing the people in northern Uganda can look forward to from their own government.

To them, this perhaps smirks more of a conspiracy.Maybe thatâs why it hurts so much to gaze upon the destruction being wrought by the rebels especially in Lango. The thought that the people have lived by the hope creed way too long.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
