Dr Odhiambo Mbai, the gentleman who has been in charge of formulating some provisions for a prime minister in a new constitution for Kenya, has been shot dead.
This hits home to some of us who had been close to Dr Mbai when he was a student here at the University of Toronto.
This, a few weeks after some Kikuyu tribalists threatened killings similar to those meted out to Tom Mboya, JM Kariyuki and Robert Ouko.
Were the jubilations about a new leaf turned in Kenyan - and African - politics too premature?
We are shaken and saddened to the core.
