THE army establishment announced 100 promotions mainly in the air force and the UPDF political department yesterday.
In the political department, Defence and Army Spokesman Shaban Bantariza was promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
Felix Kulaigye, Moses Agaba and Sebastian Kahangye formerly captains, were promoted to the rank of major, Bantariza told Daily Monitor yesterday.
Six other lieutenants in the political department are now captains.
In the Air force 25 captains have been promoted to major and 27 lieutenants are now captains.
Brigadier Ali Kizza has made Major General while Lieutenant Colonels; Peter Nyakairu, Sam Turyagenda (Director Air force) and Pascal Bukenya are colonels.
Several medical doctors and legal officers in the army were also promoted. In the legal department, 13 captains including Kagoro Asingura are majors while six lieutenants are promoted to captain.

Martial, Medical Department and holders of LLB degree," Lt. Col. Bantariza said in a statement.
This comes less than a year after President Museveni promoted over 600 officers. |
