Nils, Given the fact that lately I am the only one who apply patches on the repository, I assume that you want me to apply this patch as well. :-)
Let me put my thoughts out about this new alternative: 1) It it based on mario's code. Mario, are you ok with the fact that we are taking out from you pet project? 2) I wish someone give an ok as well, all these changes are in an area that I usually do not touch much. 3) There are a quite a few changes here, maybe before apply this patch, we should release a 4.7. (4.6 was in Jan,2005) and then put new stuff.
