This isn't strictly an unattended question, but many people on the list
work with this so I thought I would ask:

I have a nice brand new Dell Vostro 220s. It normally ships with Windows
Vista, but we purchased the downgrade to Windows XP. We are going to be
purchasing a lot of these, and with the XP downgrade option (while we
still can).

The PC has a reinstallation CD of Windows XP with SP3 already slipstreamed
into it. The only problem is that the sticker on the PC only has a VISTA
product key, and not an XP key. Apparently, there is some custom code on
the installation CD that detects if you are running it on a DELL PC, and
if you are, it skips the part where it asks you for your product key, and
the OS is already activated.

There is a Product key in the unattended.txt file on the CD and there is
also a different one on the winnt.sif file on the CD. When I install this
OS using unattended, it doesn't matter which key I use, it stops at the
product key screen and says that it's an invalid key.

I know about the setupp.ini file, but I don't know what I should have in
there. I would figure that the pid should be what was already put in
there.

BTW: it's Pid=76487OEM

Does the fact that I'm installing it over the network invalidate the PID
or change it somehow? Has anyone successfully got this to work?
