Have a look at the scripts script-update and prepare.
The first one updates the scripts from cvs and the other one downloads
what you need.

Kind regards
Tom

Re: [Unattended] Automatic downloads of Windows Updates? Is this possible or have I just missed this feature?

2007-10-12 Thread Michael De Groote
run the prepare script in the tools folder, it _should_ take care of the
downloading of all the updates.

you can specify 2 parameters to it:

1. the language (ENU, NLD, ...)
2. a specific filename (so you dont have it traverse all files)

Now, first of all, there are some scripts that contain links that are NOT
valid anymore, some of them are M$ (moved to different location), some are
other things that just moved to new versions.

Second, i think the idea of this system is nice, but managing it is a royal
pain in the 4$$. Keeping an online DB with the links that can be used to
sync against would be a lot more interesting.

Also, for some updates (especially when installing win2ksp3) there are unmet
dependencies (eg when installing the IE6 updates...)

The best solution regarding the (windows/office/IE) updates i think would be
to have some sort of SUS running on your network. (there is a free
implementation of sus for linux, though the author is russian and most extra
work that is done is commented in russian, there is very limited english
docs available. Try googling for susfl)

For the other updates/downloads, the improvement of using a central db
wouldn't be that big.

ok, time to stop rambling and get back to work :)

[Unattended] Automatic downloads of Windows Updates? Is this possible or have I just missed this feature?

2007-10-12 Thread Daniel Norström
Hi

I haven't been working with Unattended since version 2.8 but tried to read
throw all the new functions since 2004 last night;)

This project have really been moving forward, I love to see that.

Now to my Q, I see allot of http links in the Updates files and also the (
:: URL|ENU| ) , is it meant that we download those updates by our selves and
then save them to corresponding folder or is the system working so beautiful
that it can download the updates I want to my Install share all by it self
somehow, and if so how and where can i configure this?

Have a nice weekend if I don't hear from you before

Regards,

Daniel
