n a side note. I was wondering if you have looked at the Virtual Appliance build yet? If so, what are your thoughts and opinions on it? It is totally separate from this project and was designed to be used in the VMWARE world. thanks, Travis Here is the link to it: http://www.ultimatedeployment.org/ On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 6:50 AM, Paul Rijke | ConnectIT <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: > Dear Unattend Project Member(s), > > > > Unattended looks very promising. Re: [Unattended] unattended virtual Appliance
Hi, so now I think its time to say some thing about I feel like I am in a kindergarten on this list if I read the messages the last 2-3 days. Can you tell me how old you are? Or better leave it unanswered to me an answer yourself. (And I mean not only ONE person, everybody should think about it) Kerr Avon, maybe you have ever read the GPL?: http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html So this gives you the answer WHY anybody can do with your virtual machine what he want because you have published it and the software in it is mainly GPL Licenced. It not depend that the software you use for creating this stuff is not "free" (but if you can read, there are a lot of free tools from vmware (e.g vmware-server) which ARE free). And it also do not depend that it took you time and patience to complete this "project". If you have write own scripts in this virtual machine you can set them under an other licence. And it is NOT your own script if you write a smb.conf for samba, because this is part of the GPL licenced software. Think a little bit about "open source" and the mind behind the idea of free software. I hope your knowledge will be helpful for the project in the future! So simple throwaway all bad words from both sides and try to work together! I think we all want only one thing. And that is: "make the life easy". M $ and other affiliated groups make us the work hard enough, so lets pull ourself together and work against the bad job from the others... I hope no one feels defensive while reading this text, if so I want to say sorry. But this are only facts. greetings mario Am Mittwoch, den 19.03.2008, 06:44 + schrieb kerravon: > The linux files maybe free, but the virtual machine software I use is not, > and it took my time and patience to complete this project, > Nobody can host these files without my permission. - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Hi Kerravon, > I have every version of redhat since they started, including fedora 8. If you have your appliance preparation documented or scripted, it may apply cleanly or with minor changes to a Centos 5 install. > To start off with, I don't remember ever seeing in the unattended docs > anything about using specific versions of an os. > > I see from the posts a lot of you use windows platforms I could say why when > linux is more flexible but I don't. > > > > FYI I used fedora 8 originally and ran in to a few complications,so I chose > to use the platform for the actual server I have > > Working at my place of work. I noticed a lot of mails over the few months newbies having problems setting it up, So ithought I'd put it together in a virtual machine, so they could download and play around with a working system befor e installing onto a real machine. Or infact use it as it is. I thought it would also be useful as a test appliance when editing scripts adding new features before releasing them. Thanks for the suggestions though I will look into them.
