I'm pretty happy with Gnome-mplayer which does not have any of these
issues.. So I don't think I'll bother to install it to find some other
issues. Anyway, I'd recommend you do switch to plain mplayer unless you
have a need for complex playlists - it sure is faster.

Specifically while booting the system I used to see the grub menu ;
the problem now is that it seems to be no grub menu. The result is that
ubuntu karmic boots up immediately. I also want to add that just before
ubuntu boots up I can see a message but its impossible to reach to read

prefer to have only one reporter per bug report, since there may often
be some unnoticed differences between the problem of the original
reporter and those who follow up. Could you report a new bug using

It could be a deadlock.
I suspect it's a bug in GStreamer, so I asked at their IRC channel to have a
look at the trace. They said the trace isn't complete yet, they need more
threads.
Could you please post another GDB trace, but this time use the command 'thread
apply all bt', rather than 'bt
