It seems DeVeDe is useless without the -unstripped-libraries.
Maybe it should depend on them?!?
Installing unstripped-libraries fixes the bug for me but uninstalls some
other packages. Without the unstipped-libraries DeVeDe only tells me it
was unable to generate menu.

I don't think so, unrar-free only opens some rar files, though is the
only free software which is able to open rar files.
Try the freeware version of rar (sudo apt-get install unrar).
Alternativaly, you can install p7zip with the rar pluging (sudo apt-get
install p7zip-full p7zip-rar).

There is no guarantee that the .jar produced by our project is
architecture independent. If it happens to be the case now then that is
a coincidence and not a commitment.

Testing has shown that due to the better pack generation, sreadhead is
actually just as good as readahead-list *without* being optimised - HDD
optimisation is still desirable though to get even more performance out
of it

Things that caught my eye: The -data package should better be renamed
-doc (since it has all the examples which you won't need at runtime
really); the rails.mo files look weird, and might not even belong into
that package in the first place.
Otherwise, this looks good enough, approved.

downsizing the graphics. The package is almost a Megabyte big, which is
